Summer reading

I started out by reading The Hound of the Baskervilles first.  This story was very interesting and caught your attention right of the bat.  The only real motivation I had to read this story was that it was required for school and was probably something that I would not read if I did not know anything about the story.  I picked the other stories out strictly by their tittle, which seemed to work out pretty good for me.  Most of all the stories were interesting and some did not have anything to do with there title.  There were a lot of distractions to not read the stories and the biggest one is the fact that at the begging of the summer you feel like you have so much time that you do not need to worry about reading and then it catches up to you.  The motivation was getting the work done by the dead line because I know there will be consequences if the work is not done by the proper time.  The stories I have picked to read have all been good so far and I have one more to read and I am thinking about picking that one comply random and see how it works out.

British Literature is very different from modernism and post modernism.  The most distinct change is they way people talk and use their words.  In The Hound of the Baskervilles Dr. Watson said, “All this, however, is foreign to the mission on which you sent me and will probably be very uninteresting to your severely practical mind.”  Just the way they worded this shows me that British literature is very different than any kind of modernism.  Also After reading this story shows me how you can stay one thing but just in many different ways.  It also shows how people can present their shelf in today world.  This meaning that someone can just their body language, words, actions to show someone how they are feeling or how they feel about what they say.  I like to relate this to real life situations and to me this shows the most about someone in the way they are and the way they present there self.  So far I have read three of the five short stories we have to read and all three of them are really interesting and very much alike and different from each other.  This is also true for The Hound of the Baskervilles. 

letter to the class

This year has been a good year.   I really like the class I am in.  The work at times has been hard.  I am glad for all of yalls suport.  Pier editing has helped me a bunch this year.  It has improved my papers by at least 5 points each time.  The other thing that has helped me a lot if the class discussions.  I hope that we have time to finish Macbeth.  I hope I have this good of a class next year.  Thanks for all that yall have done.  Have a great summer.

This quarter was the best quart in english I think.  I came to class on time and prepared most of the time.  I did almost all of my homework.  The test were had and I did not do as good as I wanted to do.  Sometimes I got lost during the lectures and could not pay attention.  Group work was sometimes out of hand but individual work I felt like I did good on as far as paying attention goes.

We started Macbeth and we have not yet finished it.  I am beginning to wonder if we can finish it in time. We will have to do a lot of reading this week if we want to finish the book.  I am hoping that we will not have to read all of it for homework this week.  I have a lot of other stuff due at the end of the year.  So far this has been a good quarter.

reading throughout the year

This year has been a good year in english as far as reading goes.  This was the first time that I did not have to read for pages and I read for time.  People read at different rates and to make the work fair reading for time is better.  I felt like as a reader I have gotten beter though the year.  I felt like I wanted to read for fun and I was not being forced to read.

Another thing that was good is when we where reading a book for class you would let us use that reading towards our homework.  This helped me this year.  The blogs were a lot better than writing it in a notebook.  This years was a good year for reading.

free post 5-6-12

This week was very exciting for me.  I broke my arm and leaned that i fractured my ankle playing football.  I went to the doctor wednesday for my hand.  they said that it is broken and if it does not get better in a week they will put a pin in it.  When the doctor told me this, I was thinking that I sure did not want to get a pin.  The doctor was very nice but still the though of having a pin does not put me at rest.  I went to the doctor on friday and found out that I fractured my ankle in football last year.  My mom was thinking how did the other doctor miss that.  She was not happy about that.

Friday was also my birthday.  For my birthday I got some new fishing gear and a lift kit for my truck.  I cannot work on it until my hang gets better.  I cannot wait until I can lift my truck.  This week has most defiantly an exciting week.

            Every year in English we wright papers and they are graded.  I always feel like I get better as the year goes by but this year I felt like I have improved on my writing a lot.  This year by far has been the hardest and most writing I have done in a year I have done in my years of school.  It was hard and sometimes I did not want to do the work but in the end I am gad I did. 

            Spelling has always been hard for me, especially before I did all my papers on the computer.  Even when I type my papers I get words mixed up or wrong.  Pear editing has always helped me with this.  This year we did a lot of pear editing which helps.  Also what helps me is making a lay out of the paper before I wright it.  This helps me make my paper proportional and make more since. 

            We did several papers this year that delta with quotations.  In my comments on my paper I had a hard time with them.  I did not realize this until I looked at all my paper’s comments side by side.  This is one of the goals for next year that I want to work on.  I think this will help me a lot to spend more time on quotations when my papers require them. 

            The global issue essay was the hardest assignment this year for many reasons.  One is because it was a really long essay.  The other reasons were because we had to do research on our topic and use noodle tools.  The length of the paper was the biggest challenge for me.  This is also a small problem in my other papers.  This is another goal I would like to set for next year.  Another thing in the global issue paper has not giving enough background information.  If I had done this it would have helped the length of the essay and also gave more information. 

            Turnitin.com has helped a lot this year too because you can see all of your comment on papers and also see the papers right there on your computer at all times.  This year was a good year for improving my writing I thought.  I hope I can improve nest year even more.
